Nikon Coolpix 5200 Digital Camera

Nikon’s first breakthrough digicam, the Coolpix 900, has now evolved into the full featured Coolpix 5200 digital camera. For years Nikon was known as a leader in high-end cameras and optics for the professional photographer crowd. Taking this experience they have developed a line of digital cameras that are targeted to the needs of first time and amateur photographers.

The 5200 is the latest in a long line of user friendly cameras that take the guess work out of composing and shooting great images. Here’s how they do it: This camera includes Nikon’s Scene Modes technology that automatically sets up the camera for specific types of pictures; For instance Fireworks mode, Dusk/Dawn mode, Indoor Portrait Mode, Sports Mode, etc. This makes it extremely easy for even the most novice of photographers to take professional looking pictures.

To fully capture these images you get a 5.0 megapixel lens that captures images up to 2592 x 1944 resolutions. The lens is a retractable 3x Nikkor zoom lens with 4x digital zoom ability. This allows you to capture images at far distances as well as focusing in on objects as close as 1.6 inches when in Macro Mode.

You can also take advantage of Nikon’s red-eye fix feature which analyzes the image and then fixes normal instances of red-eye in as quick as 3 seconds. This feature is activated by setting the camera to red-eye reduction mode. This does two things; activates the pre-flash to minimize the red-eye effect and then analyzes the image with its powerful internal processor to erase the red-eye permanently.

Up to ten high-resolution images can be stored on the internal 12 MB flash memory with the option for more storage via Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMedia (MMC) memory cards. Images are fully downloadable using the USB cable to either a MAC or PC. Images can be edited, stitched together in a panorama, and printed using the included CD-ROM.

The 1.5 LCD display is bright and easy to read even in bright light conditions. And with the Best Shot Selector you can take up to a series of 10 shots and the camera will automatically select the best one and save it to memory.
